Be of Good Cheer

by Anita Mondragon

“In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” –John 16:33

I’ve heard this verse quoted since I was a little kid, and since becoming an adult, I have experienced it…literally; so I should not only KNOW it’s words, but I should at this point in my life realize the truth and the power in these words!

Yet, here I am again, going through some stuff; and while my boat is hurled about upon the waters of life’s troubled sea, I find myself doubting once again.  When you’re in a storm, holding on for dear life, it’s difficult to “be of good cheer.” Read more…

Lord Help My Unbelief

by Anita Mondragon

“…Jesus said unto him, if you can believe, ALL things are possible to him that believes.  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, LORD, I BELIEVE; HELP MY UNBELIEF.”  Mark 9:23-24

This morning, I woke up praying, asking God to show me what He wants from me…and asking Him to reassure me of His care and provision.  He reminded me of a poem I wrote back in 2008.  I share it now with you.  Read more…

The Rock of Ages

by Anita Mondragon

“Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”  1 Cor. 3:11

“When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil.  On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand…” – Edward Mote, 1834 / William B. Bradbury, 1863

I sometimes tremble so faint of heart,

Though on the solid Rock I stand; Read more…

Anything Goes

by Anita Mondragon

“Jesus answered, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  John 14:6

Remember that old song, “If it’s your thing…do what you wanna do…”?  When that song came out, that was a new idea…now, it seems to be the ‘norm’.

Nowadays, if you can THINK it…it’s ok to SAY it.  If you SAY it…you might as well DO it; and if you believe it enough to DO it… well…you might as well BE it! ANYTHING GOES!

There are no boundaries anymore; no right or wrong…no black or white.  No absolutes it seems. Read more…

The Last Chapters

by Anita Mondragon

“Even when you are old, I will be the same.  Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you.  I made you and will take care of you.  I will carry you and save you.”  Isaiah 46:4 This predicament I seem to be in has been on my mind for a few years now.  When your parents have died, and all your aunts and uncles have joined them, you realize how frail life can be. Then the ravages of time start catching up with YOU…it seems that Miss Clairol and Max Factor have become two of your best friends!  You dye your hair now because you have to…not because you want a ‘new’ look!  You try to cover up the new wrinkles that appear every day.  You realize your youth has faded.  What’s that old song…”The Old Gray Mare, she ain’t what she used to be….?  Growing old can be frightening, to say the least! The War Is Not Over

by Anita Mondragon

“Things are not what they seem.  This is a world at war.  Each of us has a crucial role to play….  A battle is raging, and it is a battle for your heart.” -John Eldredge

Years ago, I read a book by John Eldredge, entitled:  Waking the Dead.  There were many things in there that spoke to my heart!  In one chapter called, “Spiritual Warfare”, he says, and I quote, “This is the heart of our Enemy.  He is determined to hinder and harm and ruin God’s image bearers.  To steal and kill and destroy…the story of your life is the story of the long and brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you COULD be, and fears it!” Read more…

Teddy

by Anita Mondragon

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”-Luke 10:38-42 There’s an old hymn called:  Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus.  Here is the first verse. Behold I Am With You Always

by Anita Mondragon

I wrote the following last week when things were pretty rough around here…but now, five days later, I am almost ashamed to blog this, for God has come through, yet again.  How could I ever doubt that He would?  I don’t know…because He ALWAYS comes through!  But, I need to be honest, and this is what I felt one-day last week.  Maybe some of you can identify with me: Read more…

Do It Afraid

by Anita Mondragon

Years ago, when I was still in the workforce, our company paid beaucoup bucks for a seminar we all had to take.  It was called, “Integrity Selling.”  I really learned a lot from this seminar.  The Founder and Author of the book must have known a lot about God, and His precepts, for it was Biblical in many ways.  Take a look at the following, and you’ll see what I mean.

Here are some quotes from the book: I GO WHERE I AM AFRAID TO GO I DO WHAT I AM AFRAID TO DO I ASK WHEN I AM AFRAID TO ASK Read more…
