ROMANS – THE GREAT DEPTH OF JUSTIFICATION
WHY HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT US
a.) The love of God is demonstrated (Jn. 3:16; Rom. 5:8)
b.) The Holy Spirit shed the love of God in our hearts (Jn. 14:21, 14:23; Eph. 2:4-5; 1 Jn. 3:1, 4:9, 16) (Rom. 8:15-17; 2 Cor. 1:22; Eph. 1:13-14)
1.) WE WERE UNGODLY AND WITHOUT STRENGTH, YET CHRIST DIED FOR US (ROM. 5:6-7)
a.) “Without Strength” (Job 10:1; Ps. 31:10, 42:6, 69:2, 73:2; 1 Thess. 4:13; Eph. 2:12)
b.) “Ungodly” (Rom. 1:28-32; 1 Tim. 1:9-10; Jude 1:17-19)
c.) “In Due Time” (Mk. 1:15; Gal. 4:4-5; 1 Tim. 2:5-6; Titus 1:2-3)
d.) “Christ Died” for us:
1.) As our sacrifice (1 Cor. 5:7; 2 Cor. 5:15, 21; Eph. 5:2; Heb. 7:26-27, 9:13-14; Heb. 10:10, 12, 14; 1 Pet. 2:24)
2.) As our ransom (Rom. 3:24; Col. 1:14; Titus 2:14; Heb. 9:12; 1 Pet. 1:18-19)
3.) As our propitiation (Rom 3:25; 1 Jn. 2:2, 4:10)
e.) God’s love is an unbelievable love
2.) WE WERE SINNERS, YET GOD DEMONSTRATED HIS LOVE FOR US (ROM. 5:8)
a.) God proved His love for us (Isa. 53:5; Jn. 10:11, 15:13; 1 Cor. 15:3; Heb. 2:9; 1 Pet. 3:18)
“At the right time, Christ died for us on the cross so that we could see how helpless and powerless we are to save ourselves.”
