ROMANS 6:11-13 - THE BELIEVER IS TO LIVE OUT HIS POSITION IN CHRIST
1.) HE COUNTS HIMSELF DEAD TO SIN, BUT ALIVE TO GOD (ROM. 6:11)
a.) Dead to sin (Lk. 9:23; Ro. 6:2, 6-7; Gal. 2:20, 5:24; Col. 3:3; 2 Tim. 2:11; 1 Pet. 2:24)
b.) Alive to God (Lk. 20:38; Ro. 14:8; 2 Cor. 5:15)
c.) The Source: Through Christ (Rom. 4:22-25, 6:3-4, 6, 5:8-10)
2.) HE RESISTS SIN (ROM. 6:12)
a.) Does not let sin reign (Jn. 5:14; 1 Cor. 15:34; 1 Jn. 2:1)
b.) Does not obey its lust (Mt. 5:29; Ro. 8:13, 13:14; Col. 3:5; 1 Pet. 2:11, 4:2)
3.) HE DOES NOT YIELD THE MEMBERS OF HIS BODY TO SIN (ROM. 6:13)
a.) The believer is to yield himself to God
b.) The believer is to yield the members of his body as instruments of righteousness (Ro. 12:1-2; Eph. 6:13; James 4:7; 2 Pet. 3:17)
